ad hoc 1 is a piece composed for Martina Copello, inspired by the qualities that she transmits as a musician and as a performer. The work explores a set of procedures that generate form and content: the spectral analysis of six prepared strings of the instrument, from which the harmonic materials emerge; the manipulation of the rhythmic and textural structures of each, which translates into a specific type of Gestalt and in turn in form; a purely idiomatic conception of instrumental writing, in which the materials do not arise from a priori abstract structures, but from the very mechanics of the instrument and the body; and an interest in virtuosity, understood not only as the technical skill of spectacular mastery of the instrument, but also as the performer's ability to create an aesthetic experience that moves the limits of perception in itself and in the listener.

The work is part of a cycle of pieces for solo instruments that continues this exploration.
